Shiretoko peninsula in Hokkaido is the southernmost point where drift ice is visited in the world. From February to March every year, the ice formed at the mouth of the Amur River in Russia fills the Sea of Okhotsk under the influence of wind and current, and eventually drift ice flows to the Shiretoko Peninsula. If you are lucky you will be able to see the world under ice floe. There is a mysterious world that is not found in the South Sea.
