Born and raised in a mountainous environment, the sea was not part of my daily life. My interest in the ocean and marine life only emerged in my late thirties, after my physical peak had passed. Starting with an inexpensive camera and housing, underwater photography transformed my way of life. I quickly became a dive master, won several contests, and began working as a photographer. Still lacking scientific knowledge about the sea, I focus on bringing out the maximum appeal of my subjects. As an underwater photographer, I document marine and freshwater landscapes, the organisms that inhabit them, and the human lives intertwined with these waters. In the silence of the underwater world, I encounter the heartbeat of massive whales and momentary miracles woven by curtains of light. Through my lens, I capture more than just a record of nature—I capture the beginning of life, the connections between living things, and the intrinsic beauty of the world we must protect.
